The County’s appointed Chief Assessor assesses the value of all county real estate including mineral rights. The Board of Assessment Appeals, appointed by the County Commissioners, hears the appeal of taxpayers contesting the valuation of their properties. The scheduling of tax appeals are the responsibility of the Assessment Office. The Assessment Office maintains maps identifying the location of each parcel of taxable property.
