One Criminal jury array and one civil jury array are drawn at least two (2) months prior to the beginning of each court term in the number directed by the precept issued by the President Judge. Master jury lists are prepared for copy and distribution.
Criminal trial sessions are scheduled to begin in January, March, May, August and October.
Civil trial sessions are scheduled to begin in February, April, June, September and November. Civil summons must be sent one (1) month prior to the beginning of each session.
Labels are put on time cards for jurors called for jury duty.
All requests for excuse from jury duty must be approved by the President Judge.
The President Judge rules on requests and notifies the Jury Selection Commission of the decision. To be excused from Jury Duty, there are three (3) reasons:

Excuse or denial letters are typed and mailed to prospective jurors having been excused or denied. Said excuse application must be received ten (10) days prior to date of the session beginning.
Each year Seven thousand five hundred (7,500) Jury Eligibility Forms are prepared and mailed by the Jury Commissioners, to prospective jurors, who maybe called for Jury Duty. The roster is taken from the Pennsylvania Driver's License and Voter Registration List.
Note: When summoned for Jury Duty, you are required to appear the date summoned unless excused. Jury selection takes one day, unless a special trial is being picked. If you are chosen for a trial, or trials, you are given the dates to be present. Although, a trial session lasts three (3) weeks, it does not mean that you will have to be present for those three weeks. You must come in the first day, and then only for the days you were chosen to be a juror.
