SOMERSET, PA – The Somerset County Commissioners are pleased to announce that the five Magisterial District Judge offices throughout the county now accept credit cards for payment of fines and fees. “This is part of an ongoing effort by the Commissioners to increase the use of technology in day-to-day operations,” said Pamela Tokar-Ickes, Chairman.

You may present your Visa or MasterCard for payment in person at any of the five offices during their regular office hours. You may also give your credit card number over the telephone to the proper office to pay your fines.

According to Rhonda Sweitzer, Office Manager for District Judge Art Cook, over $7500 was collected in the first month of accepting credit cards. The new payment method will speed up the collection process and reduce postage costs and staff time by eliminating payment mailings. “By accepting credit card payments we are able to provide a higher level of service to the public. We are pleased with the usage rate so far,” said Sweitzer.
