OFFICER BARNA RECEIVES COMMENDATION

At the July 1, 2008, meeting of the Somerset County Prison Board, Corrections Officer Jeffrey Barna of Meyersdale received a Letter of Commendation. It reads, in part:

“You are hereby commended for your alertness and attentiveness to duties during an attempted escape from the work release center on June 10, 2008. Your instinctive action of pursuing and apprehending this inmate is evident of the degree to which you perform your duties. Given the nature of this incident it would have caused great concern to the county and public had he succeeded in escaping. Thanks to your decision this situation was prevented. Once again you have demonstrated the qualities of a professional law enforcement officer.

We are most fortunate to have an individual of your caliber and character on the Somerset County Jail team. You are officially commended for a job well done.”

Signed by Thomas Perrin, Jail Warden; Adele Bauer, Deputy Warden; James Marker, President of the Prison Board and a County Commissioner; and the other members of the Prison Board.
